Lawyer with Specialist Competence in AI and Data Protection
IMY is on a growth and development journey in a changing environment where privacy issues are becoming increasingly important. We face new challenges and assignments – from becoming the supervisory authority for AI systems used for law enforcement to providing guidance on how the AI Regulation and the Data Protection Regulation affect each other. We contribute to sustainable digitalization, where offensive innovation is combined with strong privacy protection. Do you want to work for a safe information society? Then you should apply for a job with us.
To reach out with information and guidance on data protection and privacy to innovation actors, IMY has established an innovation hub, where we are now seeking lawyers with specialist competence in AI and data protection.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will work with legal analysis and advice regarding AI-related law, including GDPR and the AI Regulation. You will participate and provide support in both internal and external projects where AI is applied and actively monitor and analyze the development of legislation and practice related to AI and data protection.
Furthermore, the role involves conducting training and providing guidance on legal issues related to AI and data protection, as well as participating in the authority's regulatory sandbox on data protection.
The role is new, and you will therefore play a central role in shaping working methods, structure, and content – together with the team and in line with our goals.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a law degree (jur.kand or equivalent) and at least five years of documented experience in qualified legal work. You have previous experience working with data protection legislation and preferably the AI Regulation. You are a skilled lawyer with strong analytical abilities. You have a very good ability to express complex legal issues in a target group-adapted, clear, and concise manner, in both Swedish and English.
Experience in providing legal advice to organizations implementing or developing AI solutions is an asset, as is experience in analyzing and managing risks related to AI. We also prefer candidates who have handled compliance issues and ensured that AI systems comply with applicable regulations, as well as those who have participated in AI-related projects where law has been part of the development process.
Good knowledge of AI technology and the ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements to AI systems is a significant advantage. We also value the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers. The role requires you to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams, including with engineers and business developers. Experience in networking, giving lectures, and public speaking is considered an asset, as is previous work as a corporate lawyer, legal consultant, or at a law firm.
Personal Qualities
To succeed in this role, you need to have good initiative and a genuine interest and commitment to technology development and innovation. As a person, you are development-oriented and drive your tasks forward independently and proactively to achieve the goals defined for the organization. You have a strategic approach and can quickly familiarize yourself with new tasks with a focus on solutions and results. Additionally, you can work effectively even under changing conditions and deliver quality during periods of higher workload.
With your communication skills and social competence, you build trusting relationships and networks with external actors such as industry organizations, companies, and public entities. As a representative of the authority, you are credible and clear. You thrive in a dynamic environment and are flexible and unpretentious.
You take responsibility for your tasks and your own development while contributing to the overall success and development of the authority. You constructively contribute to the group's success by sharing information and knowledge. You have a good ability to listen to different perspectives, quickly find the core of complex information, and make qualified decisions in a complex workday.
We place great importance on your personal qualities.
The Position
You will report to the unit manager who is part of the authority's management team. The employment is a permanent full-time position. IMY applies a six-month probationary period. The work is based in our pleasant activity-based premises in central Stockholm.
The position is classified in a security class, which means that Swedish citizenship is required for this position. A security clearance with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made.
The tasks mentioned in the advertisement are examples and not limited to those described. The tasks will be adapted based on the needs of the organization and current conditions.
Work samples may be included in the recruitment process.
